This distinctive long par 4 at Ury Estate climbs up into the hillside, playing against the slope and offering a unique challenge compared to the other holes on the course. Jack Nicklaus envisioned it as a “par 4.5,” acknowledging that many players may approach it as a par 5. Reaching the elevated green in two is a formidable task, requiring both distance and accuracy, but players also have the option to lay up on the fairway to the front right of the green, setting up a more controlled third shot. This design provides flexibility, inviting players to strategise based on their skill and confidence, while the uphill setting adds an impressive visual element to the hole.
